Spots on 2-year-olds bottom

My 2.5 year old is still in nappies and every now and then gets a tiny little cluster/patch of three or four pimples on one of his buttocks. I put metanium on it which seems to dry in out and make it look scabby/flaky but after a few days it goes. He has a lot of problems with recurring thrush/nappy rashes but this comes regardless of the rest of his skins condition. Any ideas what this could be? X

Could be impetigo?

Maybe just dry skin?

My little one gets this as teeth come through. Canesten takes them away for us.

TBH I wouldn't use a fungicide on a baby unless you know it's a fungus.

sharond101 · 08/06/2014 21:50

ZuleikaD what is your reason? Obviously if metanium works then that is better but we use a fungicide as metanium doesn't work for us.

A baby's skin is 15 times thinner than an adult's and absorbs chemicals much more quickly. Unless a fungicide has been prescribed then it shouldn't be used at random. Something like Sudocrem is much safer. Though to be honest for a patch of dry skin I'd probably just use Vaseline.
