Nappy nightmare! Tips?

11mo is impossible when changing his nappy these days. He will NOT stay still and has rolled over and crawled off with poo on his bum in the blink of an eye! Shock

Any tips on making the process easier for both of us? How long will this phase last?!

Mine is the same age and I had the same issue; he threw most toys I gave him. Basically I provide something he rarely/never gets given and it keeps him busy with less fighting; I take the wet wipes I think I'll need (I sneak a peek in the nappy first to guess it) then give him the packet. If he gets some out they can easily be stuffed back in. With DD an empty wet wipes packet worked. Other things would be a kitchen utensil, car keys...anything safe you'd normally swipe away or hide! We've got a singing bedtime butterfly and he loves pressing the buttons on this. And if all else fails and it's a horrible spreader, I just pin him down and get on with it!

Oh and with DD it had ended within 2-3 months. But my son is a lot more persistent so it may be longer!

DS has been a nappy-fighter since about 7mo.

I change on the bed/floor with my leg/calf flung over his legs so he can't kick me or roll over. And then wipe with lightning speed.

He's 2.6 and we're going to toilet train in a couple of weeks.

Oh, at 11mo have you thought about pull-ups?

Can't flipping wait until he's out of nappies! Such a faff.

Oooh pull ups! Hadn't thought of those - definitely worth a try! I think I'm doing a lot of the other suggestions already..short of strapping him down I was running out of ideas! Will be on the case with pull ups tomorrow Grin

Yep, pull ups are great. For pooey nappies just lie them down, your leg over their waist whilst you sit on the floor, change as fast as possible and release. Distract when you can (old macdonald works for us!) and be v v fast.

DS was like that til he was out of nappies at 2. DD is 13m and a nightmare. Not expecting it to change until she's potty trained so well be trying that early again!

I changed both my wigglers standing up. Stood them up by the side of the bath. Worked well, may not be good for children too young to stand properly.
