(Probably a very stupid) PFB question

My daughters ears are full of gunk and I can't get them clean! Tried dry tissue, wet tissue, muslin and nothing will get more than a tiny bit of wax out. It's too far in to get with my finger and obviously I'm not going to stick a cotton bud in there but I'm running out of things to try! Any suggestions?

If it's wax, then let it be - you should only clean the outer bits of the ear (however tempting the rest is - I have had to sit on my hands on a number of occasions!). Otherwise you run the risk of damaging the inner ear.

Leave it - it's supposed to be there - when they are ill the gps like to see it as it's a sign of a healthy ear - one less job to do! Smile

Hi there, I am an audiologist and can tell you that the more you prod at them the worse it will get. The 'gunk' is keeping her ear safe from outside nasties. I tell my adult clients that removing skin and wax from ears is like drying the front of your eyeballs: not sensible!

Leave alone - understood. Thanks everyone.

(Now excuse me while I go sit on my hands)

No comment on the ears, but ewwww @ drying the front of your eyeballs! Thanks for that - an image that will stay with me for some time Grin.

I bet they'd squeak when you dried them too....

Now spots, on the other hand...have you come across any of the "sporner" threads? [Whistles innocently] Grin
