Is anyone currently learning a language?

I did German A-Level & French GCSE & would like to brush up on this, as well as perhaps learning Spanish! OH is also keen to learn these 3 languages as well & I just wondered if anyone is learning them & if so how they are going about it?

I so it as a degree so maybe a little more than you would want there! But my mum teaches evening classes in adult education. They are cheap and fun, a bunch of ger students even got on so well they went off on a trip to France together to practice!

Go to your local adult ed centre and grab a copy of the adult education prospectus and sign up, there are bound to be classes and they will all be starting soon, most places have ones in the day too so usually a choice of times.

Thanks for that. Will keep an eye out. I don't know whether I'd be a beginner any more or not!

I was considering a cd based course for doing in the car & wondered whether this would be any good? I suppose it would be a start re. speaking.

For a language you've done at GCSE probably a beginners class, they tend to be fairly mixed in ability level with plenty of people who have studied it in school. All depends on how long ago and how much you remember of course! Your German though is probably better so maybe a more advanced class. Anything that gets you listening and speaking can be a good thing as long as you stick to it but I personally don't find it helps much to learn new stuff, more using tapes that go with a text book that I use in class so I can repeat exercises at home. Remember that if its you driving you probably won't take that much in since it does recquire a certain amount of concentration, trust me its hard enough to remember what you are meant to be repeating when sitting in a nice quiet language lab!
