But are they emotional difficulties & how would they affect communication?

Seriously, will put my thinking cap on.

With regard to written acivities, I would take that to mean more 'drawing' activities if you are talking about under 3's?

Katymac · 02/09/2006 16:56

No - I just have to make it up fro older children (even tho'I don't have any)

Pinotmum · 02/09/2006 18:06

I don't know if the below is of any help but I thought :

Emotional difficulties could affect communication and language development through reluctance to socialise or by the child choosing to "close down" thus retreating into own world.

Written activities to encourage a conversation for under 3's could be to i.d familiar letters or letter patterns e.g M for McDonalds, or first letter of their name. Child can trace letter shapes in sand with finger or stick or press letters into playdough and talk about what they are doing; smell, textures, etc. It's more mark marking at that age though

Katymac · 02/09/2006 18:11

Pinotmum - I love you thanks so much

That gives me the start I need

Thank you very much

I am sooo glad I'm finished BUT I have to do level 3 in 2007. Once you get going it's not too bad though is it?

Katymac · 02/09/2006 21:12

I am really strugglng

I am doing too much atm

I work about 50 hrs a week
The Nursery (I may open) seems a real possibility
I need to start sorting out business plans and presentations
A member of staff is having family problems and needing time off
And I can't find cover to replace her
My nan is really bad atm (she has altzeimers)
I had an arguement with a parent on Thursday and she cut her hours
I can't get hold of another parent who's child hasn't turned up this week
If the nursery happens I need to borrow £100k
DD starts her new school next week (& I'm more stressed than her)
Another mum is having fairly emergency major surgery next week and needs lots of support

Oh & I need to finish my NVQ - it's a bit mind blowing

Pinotmum · 02/09/2006 21:22

You have a lot on your plate Katymac! It does make sitting down and doing this NVQ stuff hard I'm sure but I see you've no option but to keep going at it if you want your Nursery. Honestly I don't know how you're fitting it all in. I think I'd be away with the fairies by now if I had all that to contend with. If your head turns to slush and you can't think of an angle for a question and if I can be of help please just ask me. My colleague did the NVQ 2 and asked me loads of stuff as I was getting more class based tutoring so seemed to have more ideas to play with. If you want my email just let me know

Katymac · 02/09/2006 21:27

Thanks I really appreciate it

I get bogged down sometimes & need "Putting back on track" so to speak - so I will take you up on your offer

How can emotional difficulties prevent the development of language & communication

if a child is very shy they will be reluctant to speak and join in group activitys thus not allowimg them to build up their communcation vocablary and languge skills they may not feel relaxed to speak to unfamiler adults

stammering and sturrering may occur because of emotional difficulties

the youngest child in the family may be babied this means their needs are met without having to complete sentances, a three yr old may be able to get his or hers needs met simly by using holophrases (one word accompanied by a gesture. as the baby of the family expectations are sometimes lowered

if a child is learning another languge at the same time

hope this helps a bit Katymac i did my nvq3 bout 3 yrs ago so a bit rusty

Katymac · 02/09/2006 22:45
