2 year old vomiting bile

Just wondering if anyone had experience of their toddler vomiting green bile when it's not a bowel obstruction?

My 2.5 year old DD started vomiting in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Initially every half an hour and eventually every hour and a half until 9pm Tuesday evening. No vomiting at all Tuesday night but it started again Wednesday morning as well as a high temp so I brought her to the doctor. He felt her stomach and it all felt fine, said it was probably gastroenteritis and said to bring her back Thursday if the fever remained.

No fever now but she is still vomiting and it's now turned green. She isn't in pain and her stomach feels soft and normal. She hasn't managed any food since this started so is this just because her stomach is totally empty? Can bile be green as well as yellow with a stomach bug? She isn't dehydrated, she's been sipping water and her mouth is moist and she is still weeing. 3am where I am so still a few hours before I can call the doctor!

From my experience of hyperemesis, if you vomit a lot and can't keep food down then you will start to vomit bile. Green and/or yellow.
I would call the dr to be on the safe side but if she's not dehydrated then it will probably resolve itself when she manages to keep some food down. Try and encourage her to nibble something plain. I hope she feels better soon!

Yes the poor mite has nothing left and so will jut vomit bile now I'm afraid. My DS had the same with gastro.

Signs to watch for are:

Listlessness/lethargy - not just being tired but more unable to rouse

No wees in 6 hours

Really pale fingers

Dry mouth

Then they may be dehydrated and will need to be assessed by a doctor again/go to hospital

Thanks Nutella. Google can be very anxiety inducing, especially late at night! She has asked for food a couple of times but she can't keep it down poor thing, even plain stuff. She must be starving at this stage. I've raised her head up on pillows and that seems to have helped with the coughing and retching. Hopefully she can get a good stretch of sleep now.

Thank you, I'm keeping a close eye on her for any of those signs and making sure she has regular sips of water.

How's she doing? Hope she got some rest and is on the mend

Amazingly she still woke up at 8am despite her crap nights sleep. She's had a long nap today and is no longer vomiting but has had a few runny poos now. Still doesn't want to eat though and is worn out but is drinking orange squash and water. She keeps asking for milk and chocolate buttons but I know she can't have those. Feel terrible saying no :(
