hi there,
my dd is 6 weeks old and i'm happily using cloth nappies (mostly muslins at the moment, plus some ME one size and bumbles) i want to try out some different brands but am feeling a bit squeamish about buying and using second hand cloth nappies. anyone out there bought, used and feel good about second hand? be glad if you'd let me know.

Yes, all mine are second hand. Bought from nappy lady classifieds mainly. Don't be squeamish...stick them in the washing machine...they'll be fine

I don't know why but I'd feel funny using second hand nappies.

As my 2 are 7 and 8 nappies are long gone.

Just wondered how much would you sell a second hand nappy for?

olivia35 · 01/09/2006 22:23

Most of mine were secondhand & will be going back on ebay when finished with.

I know some people are a bit funny about it, but if you think about it, either you believe they're coming out the washing machine clean (in which case it doesn't matter who wore them last) - or you don't - in which case you wouldn't presumably use washables at all. IYSWIM.

Well, if brand new a nappy is about 7 pounds, then a good condition one is often 5-6 pounds inc postage. Poorer condition ( faded colour/bobbling/fraying) woudl be 3 pounds - ish.
It depends on the type of nappy, some have higher re-sale value than others!

yup, I have bought loads of second hand.
I don't see anything wrong with it, it is clean it looks fine, I give another really hot wash, and there it is... a handy piece of cloth!

I actually think this is one of the beauties of cloth nappies! It can continue to be re-used for a long time!!!

2nd hand is fine, wash them and use, they will only get filled with pooh anyway. its not like bub is chewing on them ( hopefully) and is no worse than 2nd hand/hand me down clothes surely.
I've paid about 3 quid per MEOS, my nappy nation was 5 but that was ex demo never been used. Airflow warps have ccost between 25p and 3 quid. I think the charity shop that had tham for 25p didn't know what they were :-) def didn't know what they cost new.
I'm trying to decide between selling on my bimbles or passing them on for free to family...
