My daughter is 1 and a half but recently she just whines at everything, she is getting frustrated because I don't know why she is whining and I'm getting frustrated because I don't know what she wants! She seems a little run down just now coughing and a snotty nose but I don't honestly think this is why she is crying! I'm at my wits end helppppp Confused

Have you thought about baby signing with her so she can tell you what she wants? It has worked a treat with DD and I started with her at around 13 months, she's now 22 months. DS is now starting to learn too aged 11 months and can do a couple of signs. The most common signs are food / drink / more / milk / sleep etc and these alone will get you through a lot!

It's her way to get your attention and signals her mood ie sadness, boredom, or exhaustion.

I like the previous poster's suggestion.

Or try proving talking gets results. "I can't hear you when you make that noise, tell me what you want!" Stay calm.

Ask DD some questions and give her the chance to say yes after each one. When feasible, give her the option to choose, (stick to just two choices).

Just thinking, are her back molars coming in?

Both my kids did this before they were able to speak properly/clearly. They got frustrated that they couldn't tell me what they wanted.

Is quite common at that age, and if she's not feeling well then it's even more likely that'll be whingy.

"This too shall pass." Have a Brew on me.
