Really stuck for ds2's birthday in a few weeks & have a massive family all asking for ideas so any suggestions would be great. Doesn't need anything big like a bike or scooter & has said lego(older brother has loads). So far we've got on the list:

Power rangers training set
Colouring Pens & pencils

He's not sporty but likes cooking & crafts (mister maker obsessed) & more traditional boys stuff like cars, lego, action figures.

How about

A marble run
Eazy Fort (for den building)
Remote control car
Hexbugs
Grow your own butterfly set
Board games?

ShoeWhore · 27/05/2014 08:48

Magic set?

PhoebeMcPeePee · 27/05/2014 08:53

Already got a Marble run & hexbugs (curse of having older brotherWink) will definitely look into the easy fort & like the idea of the butterfly thing thank you. He loves board games (ludo, frustration, shopping list, snakes & ladders etc) but any others you can suggest would be great.

I was recommended Dino Dice for my DS (similar age to yours) at Christmas, got it and it has been a hit. There is also a next step up version. Definitely great for someone who likes playing games.

PhoebeMcPeePee · 27/05/2014 09:02

Brilliant Dino Dice is definitely on the list (& for addition to 12 shut the box is brilliant)

What about a kids cookery book and his own cooking equipment - apron , blue silicone cake cases, biscuit cutters etc.

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2014 09:15

Hotwheels
Groovy wellies - I was gutted when I tried to get ds fire engine wellies for his 5th birthday and realised that his feet were now too big (13) for patterned wellies.

Djeco does nice craft sets, its a French brand and a bit different Djeco

Alex Toys does excellent craft sets too, with mosaic stickers, things to make (the kit is all provided, but in the past, I have found that a stapler makes all the difference to how long the end result stays intact! On Amazon

Connect Four

Guess Who

If you're looking to spend more money, what about a castle? The Imaginext one goes for around 45, but there is a very nice Melissa and Doug one on Amazon which is generally about 25-30. You could buy knights, horses, possibly a royal family or whatever he likes

Ant world here or there is a worm one or the similar butterfly garden here

A bug box

Let me know if I'm on the right track and I'll have another think!

A make model planes out of paper book usborne

Bike Hatley do patterned wellies in size 13. I got some in TK Maxx for DS and they only had size 13. They are mid blue with eitehr diggers or tractors on.

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2014 09:38

I know.... He really wanted fire engines though (Hatley do them... Might get racing cars before his feet grow .

A kite?

CookieTramp · 01/06/2014 23:18

Three words: toy voice recorder.

Amazon sells one. My boy plays with his all the time and we have given one to each of his friends and their mums have commented each time that it is a hit. They can record themselves and play back instantly, and warp it by slowing down or speeding up. Only about £6.
