Advice re 4 month old DS

Just looking for a bit of advice re my 4 month old.

He's always been an easy baby, rarely cried, whined, and an excellent sleeper. He is on gaviscon for reflux but I'm 99% sure this isn't the issue.

Recently he's been a completely different baby. He was seen in hospital on Tuesday due to a fever and hours of constant crying. However after a full day of blood and urine tests they couldn't find an issue. He has still been unsettled, though not as much. Mostly on waking he doesn't seem to wake properly and cries for a few minutes, and then comes round and is alert, and responds and plays as normal, but not his usual smiley self.

He is still taking 8oz bottles every 3 hours, but he is napping more than usual, and his sleep is disrupted at night.

I've taken his temp with a forehead strip which read 38, allthough due them being notoriously inaccurate I checked with an armpit digital which read 36.9.

Anyone experienced anything like this?

My four month old is the same too, he has just starting becoming extremely fussy, screams instead of cries, has a little fever and just doesn't seem himself anymore. Although he has about an hour a day when he's happy and smiley :s. Would love to know what could be wrong ...

Could it be teething?

My ds is 6 months and can have 'off' days due to teething even though none have come through yet.

Lilannii good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Pumpkin I thought that, he's chomping everything he can get his hands on, and very dribbly and his little cheeks are bright red. It's not just an off day though it's been over a week he's been out of sorts now. And he's very tired, allthough not sure if this could be down his unsettledness at night.

I just found it very odd that his bloods and urine were crystal clear, yet he was still not himself.

Just read that back! I'm not glad you're going through it just glad that it's not a one off case! Terrible wording, my apologies!

Teething, I'd guess. With DD, we had a LOT more fuss when teeth were preparing to come through than when they eventually erupted.

If it wasn't for the fever, I'd say another possibility is 4 month sleep regression...

Good luck! This, too, will pass.

Feng, it could possibly be a combination of both? It's the tiredness that concerns me the most.

I'm probably being a bit PFB of I'm honest. Would be easier if they came with instructions!

Ahh teething, that would explain a lot. He now has a lump and I can see his tooth pushing through already! Thanks everyone. That's helped a bit
