Anyone else got a late teether?

DD is 1 & doesn't have a single tooth. No signs of anything imminent either.

In fairness, both DP & I were late teethers too & DS got his 1st tooth at 11months, 2nd at 14 months. Then lots at 18 months.

I'm hoping they'll all come through quickly once she starts, although that wasn't the case for DS.

Anyone else waiting patiently for teeth?

Yes! DD is 1 next month and no teeth here either :-)

DS 2 didn't get his first tooth til he was 18 months.

At 2.5 he's still waiting for his canines.

DS1 is 6 and is bemoaning the fact that he's the only child in his class who hasn't lost a tooth yet. As none of his are even wobbly, he has a long way to go!

One of mine was 14 months old, then grew the full set in two weeks.

Hi Lotsofcheese, DS took forever to have his first tooth, around the first birthday. My brother is a dentist, he asked if I have ever seen a human without teeth, of course I said no, "so don't worry, they will come when they come, it won't make any difference" he said. Is BabyBel 1 already, can't believe how fast time has gone.

Good to hear from you BBD! Yes, Baby bel is 1, time has flown! How are things with you?

Can I ask how other late teethers cope with foods such as olives, oranges, grapes etc? I'm always terrified to give them to DD in case she chokes.

You lot have cheered me up. Dd2 is 15 months and no teeth (only 12 months corrected - preemie). I was starting to worry!
But there is such a thing as babies being born without teeth isn't there? I mean, teeth in their gums. Rare, but google says it's possible. . Can you tell this has been bothering me?

Blueblackdye · 26/05/2014 12:52

Imo chewing is doable with gums, molars, whose purpose is chewing, come last anyway. I used to peel off the white skin of orange, grapes were cut in 4 quarters, didn't give olives until DS was 22 months.

DD is 19 months and is just getting her 2 front teeth. Nothing at the bottom yet!

iklboo · 27/05/2014 18:22

DS was a little gummy bear for AGES. He's 8 now & his top two teeth have only just become wobbly.

purplemurple1 · 28/05/2014 18:45

Mines just got his first two at 9 month's - he jas been having orange, halved grapes, since before the teeth and coping fine tbh the teeth have made no diff to his ability to eat and chew.
