Should I wake DD (5mo) to change?

My DD is 5mo and sleeps 12 hours (8pm-8am) which is amazing! Grin Just when she wakes up her nappy is SOAKING. Sometimes it's gotten through to her sleep suits. It doesn't seem to bother her, well she doesn't wake up anyway. But it can't be comfortable can it?

Should I change her in the middle if the night or just leave it?

Can you change her without waking her?

GingerRodgers · 22/05/2014 09:03

As long as it's not poo I'd leave her and just make sure you clean her really well as maybe have nappy free time in the morning.
If it's not bothering her, why disturb her sleep.

MagicDucky · 22/05/2014 09:05

I'm not sure. She can be a really light sleeper, but I might give it a go Confused

Leave unless it's poo. Could you try going up a nappy size? Bigger ones have a greater capacity. I seem to recall we had a few mornings of waking up soaked around that age. Swapped from pampers babydry to active fit, problem solved.

Pop a second nappy in the next size over her nappy or put a wrap (Motherease or Blueberry) over the top of her nappy.

MagicDucky · 22/05/2014 09:08

Yeah gingerrodgers it's not poo and I usually let her have some nappy free time for a while before I dress her. You're probably right I just don't want her to get uncomfortable or get a rash it anything.

My DD was the same. I used the next size up for night time.

Trooperslane · 22/05/2014 09:47

We've done the same as stormy.

I always changed Dd in the night. They get used to it and sleep through it.

Everyone says the nappy keeps the skin dry but it doesn't. When you take off a soaked spongy nappy the skin is wet and clammy.

Agree about going up a size too. But twelve hours in one nappy is too long.

Theyaremysunshine · 22/05/2014 12:08

Good grief don't wake her! Go up a size and/or change brand. A 5mo shouldn't be soaking through a good quality big nappy.

Melonbreath · 22/05/2014 13:33

Go up a size, add another one on top and smother her in bum cream at bedtime.
If i woke dd up for any reason world war iii would descend on our house.
However my best mate changes her ds in his sleep no problems

PumpkinPie2013 · 23/05/2014 13:12

Go up a size and maybe change brand depending on what you use.

I use Asda little angels during the day but a pampers at night as ds sleeps through and the asda ones didn't keep him dry overnight x
