Back at work so don't get to spend lots of time with my son but had a day off today and feel so bad at being a mum. Is it possible my son who has literally just turned 1 is already having tantrums? Feel like the whole day has been a battle with him whingeing whenever he didn't get what he wanted (my phone, cat food, knives etc). Tried to have a nice day, fed ducks, had lunch at cafe, went to the park.Has just ended in him refusing to eat dinner and me getting angry at him (what sort of person gets angry at a 1 year old baby?!?!) Just struggle for it to come naturally and have been just waiting for my partner to come home and take over. Please help me be a better Mum.

Give yourself a bit of a break. You are at work and you have a child, it's not easy.

Most of what he did is pretty normal. They usually want the things you have. You seemed to have packed it quite a bit too. At that age I aimed to do one just thing a day. Do you think he could have been overtired by dinner?

If you are getting angry with him you need some tactics to try to keep yourself calm. It really doesn't matter if he doesn't eat his dinner. He could have been too tired or just not hungry. Most children eat more done days than others. My normally fussy dd is currently eating everything in sight then asking for more, in a couple of days she will probably be eating like a sparrow again. If his food intake is a trigger for you keep a food diary for the next two weeks. It should help you see the whole picture and not to focus on one meal Smile

You sound pretty down. How are you feeling? Do you get any time for yourself?

Hope my waffling has been of some help. Hopefully someone will be along soon with some proper advice Smile
