Ok, so my room is roasting hot and I've no idea what to put my baby to sleep in. I try and cool the room down as vet as I can. Fans only circular the warm air. Usually my 4mo (12lb) baby would sleep in his best and sleepy suit and then his 1.5 tog grotbag when the room is around 18 degrees. I won't even tell you what the monitor is showing tonight, but I've been obviously leaving the grotbag these last few nights and taking his vest off too so sleepsuits only. Tonight I've got some seperate a pj's which leave his feed hanging out and without the vest on his tummy is exposed which I thought might keep him cooler.

He hasn't grumbled at all this week and hasn't felt hot to touch at any point in the night. But what if it gets hotter as the summer goes on. Is it ok to let him sleep in just a vest? I'd feel
He was very exposed without his legs being covered up...

Be good to know what everyone else puts their babies in, in the warm weather ? X

My 5mo DS is in a short sleeved vest lying on top if half his sleeping bag so that in the unlikely event it gets cold later I can zip him in. He seems perfectly happy at the mo. I am so hot though :(

Just vest is fine if it's really hot or even just nappy of it's properly roasting. You can ajways cover him up with a cotton blanket when it cools down later on.

Ok that makes me feel better then thanks. I've options for when it's hotter. He's almost in shorts and crop top tonight due to his sleeping position haha looks just like his dad :)

I used to find this helpful - Link

Mine are in a short sleeved vest and 1 tog sleeping bag, window open, fan on.

I would use just sleepsuit at least even in summer. A vest is probably too cold at that age during the night and feet likely to be cold

It's 27 in our flat. Both ds's are in regular pjs and under winter duvets. They wake up at 3/4am frozen otherwise. They are pre school age

My DD last year (8months at the beginning go the summer) would not sleep without a sleeping bag - that was interesting when the coolest I got her room to was 26 degrees! She was naked in it at one point. Had 2 fans (one which had ice packs in but tbh wasn't that great), windows open and windows open a crack with sheets up to block out the light.

Its hot here today; i've tin foiled the windows (shiny side out) but she still in her favourite log legged long sleeved sleep suit (she's 20 months now) with a light duvet. Thankfully she appears to take after me and likes the heat lol.

8month old DS's room was unusually hot last night - 23c and couldn't get it cooler. We try to keep it 18-20. He was in a sleepsuit and one tog bag. I prefer him in a sleepsuit as the temp does drop in the night and his arms get chilly.

A friend told me it's better putting a baby in a short sleeve vest than just a nappy as it's cooler to wear cotton, than to have skin on skin . Sounds right. Does anyone know?
