Changing first nappies!!

So I've just opened a new pack of nappies for my soon to be newborn. They are so tiny!! There is a number on one side and a picture strip on the other Side. Looks to me like the number goes on the bottom and the picture on babies waist at the front, can anyone confirm?

Oh you sound like me 8 months ago and now I'm a pro!! yes probably is number at back. One side will have the pull out tags that stick to the other side, the tags are at the back and stick to the front. does that make sense?!
do not worry, you will muddle through and you'll be good at so many things you've never done before before you know it!! x

hehe the side with the sticky tabs go behind the baby and wrap round to the front.

Take some baby oil to the hospital and put some on the babies bum at each nappy change. It makes getting the sticky black poo (that comes in the first few nappies) off much more easy.

Before I had ds I'd never changed a nappy Blush. It's really easy though! The strip is brilliant, let's you know when they've done a wee (which is constantly at first). I was very disappointed that bigger nappies didn't have this function.

Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has never done it before! I'm hoping like you, i quickly learn! Thank god for mumsnet!! Smile

Bless you! DD is 7 weeks now and the first nappy change is still fresh in my mind! I'd never changed a nappy before she arrived. The midwife showed DH how to put the first one on and we changed it together. We were just getting our head around the tar like poo when she weed everywhere then was sick on herself. Every change since has seemed easy!

Before she arrived I did a search for videos of how to change a nappy as I was really worried about it. You soon get the hang of it Smile

You will pick it up fast :) my DD's nappy was the first I had ever changed. At 9 weeks I'm a pro and do it without thinking. The first poos are gross and a pain to clean but it gets easier. The hospital will advise you to use water and cotton wool to clean it up. I don't know if you have to but I cheated and used the cotton makeup remover pads. The first poos are so so sticky and cotton wool balls just make a mess or did when I tried.

Purplemurple1 I wish I had thought of that!
