How to protect from the sun in a sling

We generally carry DS in a Baby Bjorn when we go out. How do we protect him from the sun? He had a kepi hat and sunscreen on today, but is that enough? (he's 6mo and sucks his hands a lot, so can't really put sunscreen on his fingers).

That's all I did in this country.

When abroad or v sunny days at home I used a UV umbrella as a parasol. They're great, block 98%+ of the UV rays. Felt a bit self conscious to start with but honestly it's such a useful thing to carry. Doubles as a usual brolly too if you get a waterproof one!

Ideally silver on the outside to reflect and black underneath so stray light rays don't bounce off and onto baby. They're often the other way round for goodness knows what reason. We have this one.
