I've got two children, toddler 2.8yo and baby 3wks. Now not being able to focus 100% on my toddler has made me think about how I show my love and care. To me, making sure my family have clean clothes, tidy surroundings and basic needs met (food in cupboards etc) is how I show my care, while dh is brilliant at imaginative play and generally occupying ds. But, ds doesn't give a monkeys whether he's in clean clothes or not so i need to let this go a bit, don't i? He would rather have my attention, I know.

So, how do you show your family your care and love?

A nice, meaningful smile. A kiss on the way to bed and upon getting up in the morning. A hug or cuddle. Sitting close during story time - which in our house can be at any time of the day. Apologising for shouting if it wasn't warranted. Playing and being silly together. Rules, routine and boundaries. Treats alongside non-negotiables.

Kisses, cuddles, lots of 'I love you'.

Are you worried that you're not physically affectionate enough with your kids?
