If you had a short gap between DCs how was it going on mat leave again so soon?

Due to a medical condition we've been advised to start TTC #2 now. Our DS is 9 months and I'm going back to work at the end of August when he will be 13 months. If we're lucky enough to fall pregnant quickly again then I could only be back at work for 5/6 months.

I just wondered if anyone else has done this and how was it? I'm feeling good about going back and have found DS a lovely CM and I'm worried about the disruption for him and work...Also dreading ms with a toddler!!!

I went back to work when I was 6 months pregnant. I was back for almost 2 months when I went on mat leave again as dd2 was induced early due to complications.

It was ace, but then I hated my job.

Two kids under 18 months is hard, but lovely when they are older. I did it again with dd3.

I have an 18 month gap and went back to work for 5 months between. It was brilliant because I was able to use both my accrued holiday for the last year and holiday for the coming year so was hardly there ! Hope you get your BFP soon.

I guess it does depend on your job. I've at mine a long time and cruising for a few years (waiting for mat leave) so don't really mind about not going back for long. Think I'll get some stick from my colleagues though!

I went back to work when DD was 6 months and then went on mat leave for DS 12 months later. We planned for it to work like that and we were lucky that I fell pregnant again so quickly.

I don't remember it being a problem for anyone.

I have a seven month old and am two month pg Grin literally got bpf a week before I was back from ML.

I'm delighted.

I went back for 6 months between mine. It was fine as I worked for a large company and had slogged my guys out for them for 12 years working stupid hours so felt no real guilt. Also work was project based so no real need for 'cover' as I could slot in and out.

I would probably have felt more awkward and it been more of a pain if I worked in a small company who had to organise specific cover and training for a replacement etc

I'll soon be able to let you know. Ds is 11 months & I go back in June, then back on mat leave in sept. Not told work yet, but can't imagine they will be too happy

rachyconks · 08/05/2014 07:53

I went back for 4 months. I was sad to go off again, because I felt I was only just getting back into the swing of work again! But I have two lovely babies and will be going back in January.

I have 15 month gap. Only had 3 month maternity leave each time so fine actually as in work a year again before next baby. I do work from home 1/2 time though

trilbydoll · 08/05/2014 21:06

I don't think it matters what you do, people's perception is often way off. I have just gone back and someone asked if I would be going again soon for No 2, "like N did". N was at work for 3 years between her two babies!

poocatcherchampion · 09/05/2014 07:22

work were fine ans it was fine. however I def feel like I've done no work since before my first mat leave and will now need to prove myself again.
hence off on a kit day now.

17m0 between mine

I went back to work 12 weeks pregnant, worked 4 months, then back on maternity leave, worked really well
