From bassinet to crib?

My DD is 5 weeks and almost about 10lbs, which is about the time to start transferring to the crib/cot, her bassinet is a hand me down, but my parents redid the wooden bottom so I'm sure it can accommodate 20+ lbs (but I'd rather make 15 the cut off). I'm trying to give her day naps in it. Every time I put her in it though, she wakes right up a few minutes later. She doesn't cry, she just sits there grunting and cooing for a little while before fussing. I tried just leaving her while she's not fussing but she doesn't fall back asleep on her own. We put her in her bassinet at night so she'll sleep.

Am I trying too soon? Any tips?

I'm really hoping that after a day full of hardly any naps, she'll be too tired to stay awake in her crib tonight. She keeps fighting sleep.

try putting the bassinet in the crib for a few nights, get her used to the view etc, then try without the bassinet when she is settled.
good luck!

I can't do that, it's not set up like a Moses basket where you can take it off the stand. The wheels fold up under neath it and I don't want to poke a hole in the mattress with the sharp metal rods. She slept in it pretty ok last night. She does better in the dark with it when she can't see her surroundings. I've swaddled her a little extra tight so that she feels more secure and she's been napping in it tonight.

I should mention the bassinet and crib are both in her room, so it's not really an adjustment of sleeping away from me and getting used to her room but more that she's uncomfortable with big open spaces.

She's sleeping in it now though.
