am off to france tomorrow and have been mulling over a few of my bound-to-need-to-say-at-some-point phrases.

i always want to say "it's been a long time since i spoke much french" but struggle with composition - end up with something like "ca fait longue temps depuis je parle beaucoup de francais" (!!!!) which sounds horribly wrong.

anyone any other ideas. doesn't have to be word-for-word - just something that gives the idea of - i used to live in france [believe it or not] / speak french, but it's been a loooong time".

"ça fait longtemps que je n'ai pas parlé français" would do fine.

Don't be too hard on yourself, your French will come back fast I'm sure, and people won't care because you will obviously be trying.

Have fun!
