My 2 year old loves singing nursery rhymes. Her memory of the words amazes me. We sing together all the time. But, she's learnt a few at nursery that I don't know so I'm looking for a good nursery rhyme DVD or CD, especially with "Walking in the Jungle" on it (since I don't know that one). Any recommmendations?

Sounds like a song from Fimbles - does it go "walking in the jungle, the fimbly fimbly jungle, all sorts of animals, all around" that ones funny, I know all the words to that one (sadly from hearing it on video far too often!) You can get a good one from the NCMA, it has a book to do all the hand signals too. Or just look on Amazon, they are great for stuff like that!

According to her it's:

Walking in the Jungle
What am I see
If I hear a noise
What am it be
I think it is a lion/crocodile/snake
Roaaaarrrr/snap snap/sssss
Hope it isn't me

Yes, I spotted the obvious words that she's got wrong but her version is cute.

Very sweet, never heard that one before. My son shocked me with one I hadn't heard since I was at pre-school myself, highly amusing trying to remember it! We also have a very long nursery video by Contender with lots of songs and rhymes too that my boys love - they have a website you could check out. Oh yes, you could check Google - type in the first line, or maybe "nursery rhyme words", you'll have pages galore of words for them. Found this out helping a friend do a pub quiz one night (I was at home on the computer, she was at the pub asking for help!)

Does each line get repeated? If so it might be this one - dd2 age 4 loves this!

I'd Googled it before posting on here, but unfortunately I couldn't find the actual nursery rhyme lyrics, just references to it being a good nursery rhyme for preschoolers. I also spotted that book/tape on Amazon's website but wasn't sure if was the one with the nursery rhyme. ellceeell, does the "walking through the jungle" bit loop through over & over with different animals throughout the book? If so, I've got to get it. She'd love it. I'd tried searching Barefoot Books' website for more details but it's no longer listed.

I also spotted this on Amazon which I thought was probably it, but it would be nice to have a cd/tape/dvd that included it.

My other daughter caused me to learn "Miss Polly had a dolly" when she was little but that was easy to find on the net & then we saw it on The Tweenies. That became part of my repertoire .

dmo, I'll pop into Woolies as soon as I can to catch their sale. There's bound to be some worth buying for that price. Thanks!

Walking through the jungle,
Walking through the jungle,
What do you see?
What do you see?
I think I see a lion,
Roar! Roar! Roar!
Chasing after me,
Chasing after me.
Floating on the ocean,
Floating on the ocean,
What do you see?
What do you see?
I think I see a whale,
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Chasing after me,
Chasing after me.
Climbing in the mountains,
Climbing in the mountains,
What do you see?
What do you see?
I think I see a wolf,
Howl! Howl! Howl!
Chasing after me,
Chasing after me.

And it goes on for another 4 verses!

Hasn't got the song you wanted but I would recommend the 'My first nursery ryhmes' album. Has a CD and DVD with little children dancing. My DD is 3 and loves it, and has loved that range for well over a year now!

ellceeel, thanks for the lyrics. I'll have to get that book & tape now.

And, rarrie, thanks for the recommendation. I checked it on Amazon & the song list looks good. She loves to sing & dance and, like most children her age, anything with children on it fascinates her. We have a Tumble Tots one that she loves. But, I find bits of "Wow! That's What I Call Nursery Rhymes" quite annoying.
