The one thing that makes me feel "oh I wish dh was here for this" is teeth cleaning. Don't know why, just find it a really tedious chore.
What about you?

haven't found one post I didn't nod my head to yet!

Parks. The most boring places in the whole world. I'll take ds's anywhere else to avoid a park - in fact have just taken ds2 out to the shopsm for lunch and on a mini roundabout just to avoid the mind-numbing boringness of the park...

And the two hours between 4pm - 6pm. Seem to last for most of the day...

wiping faces, hands and bums every single day!

Take a newspaper to read while pushing swing.
Lessens the pain.

Dottydot · 27/08/2006 19:11

MD - I would, but neither of my little... darlings likes the swings! It's a case of having to traipse around after them as they hurtle down the slide, climb on stuff etc. I try to sit down and stare into space but going to the park unfortunately usually involves Inter-Active Parenting...

  1. putting shoes and socks on vvvvvv boring
2. agree about the park. it is TEDIOUS 3. watching Teletubbies. it is driving me mad, especially that noo noo character. 4. clearing up toys zzzzzzzzzzzzzz 5. very long phone calls with my mother about every aspect of my dd's diet, day, development

actually nappy changing is ok. at least there is variety in it.

clairemow · 27/08/2006 19:23

asking DS if he needs a wee, being told no, and then clearing up the accident 5 minutes later.

getting DS to get dressed in the morning, and explaining again that we can't go to the zoo/friend's house/out for a walk etc. etc. naked. He has been known to stay in naked.

looking at dirty floor because I can't be bothered to sweep after every meal time

laundry - esp the putting away bit.

answering "who's that mummy?/what's that mummy?" every 10 seconds.

playing talking teddy bears. this also extends to talking cars and lego bricks who go on sleep overs together. why oh why??

throckenholt · 27/08/2006 19:41

all of the above !

Plus dealing with all the cr*p, sorry artwork they bring home from playgroup and school. I disappear under mountains of the stuff. We make enough rubbish of our own without having to bring other people's home daubed in paint and glue (x 3).

Reading this thread and all I can do is nod, nod some more, groan and chuckle

Oh throckenholt how funny!!!!
We have 3 kids as well and i try so hard to look enthuastic about all the artwork that comes my way.
I see some mums at school, really praising the work, when it really is rubbish.
I just think to myself, how much more can we cram into our recycling bin!!!

On one of the occasions that i went into my daughters reception class, her teacher asked me to mount some pieces of artwork for display.
She told me to only do the really good ones!!!!

How we both laughed when i told her there was only 3 that were any good.

fussymummy · 28/08/2006 00:03

Another thing i really dispise is when the kids come home with 'models' that they've made.

In other words- old cereal boxes, loo roll tubes, egg boxes etc.... all stuck together with glue and paint that takes forever to dry, and when it does dry it flakes off all over the house!!!!!!!

no no no have to disagree about the park...yes it is soo boring, but I know that in an hour's time ds is going to be completely knackered so the payoff will be ds happily flopped on the sofa with his milk (or maybe having a lovely nap!) and mummy having an undisturbed cup of tea! (Before then running round like a mad thing doing all the jobs I can't get done when ds is on his feet and requiring a personal trainer...sigh)

Can I add "picking bit of banana out of the cat's fur" to the list though. Seems to be a daily occurrence at the moment no matter how quick on my feet I am.
