What is the most tedious parenting job?

The one thing that makes me feel "oh I wish dh was here for this" is teeth cleaning. Don't know why, just find it a really tedious chore.
What about you?

sewing in f*king name tags, because the iron one's always fall off, especially off socks

Cailyn3 · 25/08/2006 21:13

Also remembered another irritating job: stopping them from putting objects in their mouths, no matter what the age.....had to rescue a snail today from one of the kids I look after - luckily he had only licked it, but its the first time any child has done something that has made me want to throw up!

Cailyn3 · 25/08/2006 21:13

Name tags - ARGHH! Those taggits are no good either, they fall off in the washing machine!

  • trying to think of things to give them to eat....
- repeating everything 15 times

sigh....

1Baby1Bump · 25/08/2006 21:53

bottle and teat washing.
getting child to sleep at night.
getting up thru the night because of teething.

SewingMadMummy · 25/08/2006 22:07

All the bloody washing up and laundry!!!

Pomi · 25/08/2006 22:31

Potty training as ds 2.8 either forgets or want to wee every five minutes, washing his pants full of poo as i am not successful in catching any in a potty and the whole visit to the toilet as every time i take him ds2 1.9 also wants to come then they start playing with toilet brush, toilet seat and toilet roll. I end up shouting every time.

moondog · 25/08/2006 22:32

Putting shoes and coats on
Getting them in and out of bloody car seats (feel so liberated since dd started doing her own)

I forgot finding matching socks!! or is that the most frustrating thing.

harpsichordcarrier · 25/08/2006 23:03

cleaning the bloody highchair
actually I have two bloody highchairs.
cleaning the two bloody highchairs.

moondog · 25/08/2006 23:04

Get an IKEA Antelop Harpsi (about £20)

Highchair cleaning involves one deft swipe chez moi.

HyacinthB · 25/08/2006 23:07

Oh God the whole meal time fiasco, menu planning, cooking, preparation, cajoling them to eat, cleaning up armageddon afterwards etc all thrice per day - like so many of you, totally does my 'ead in!

As does the constant refrain for 'kids tv please' and the herculean effort it takes from me to not give in....

harpsichordcarrier · 25/08/2006 23:07

no tray though, is there?
need a tray for the BLW.
thought I might just get a large hungry dog to lick it clean three times a day.
or some tame maggots.
or feed her in the sink, which is where she ends up after every meal anyway, getting doused down.
CURSE this BLW

moondog · 25/08/2006 23:09

Yes there is!

I do a lot of picnics too.

God,the most liberating thin here in Turkey is going out for lunch with then every single day and knowing someone else cleans up.

Rest of time can wing it with oddcrusts and copious amounts of apple juice.

superloopy · 25/08/2006 23:12

Although not specifically a parenting job, I HATE taking the rubbish out! My DH will just keep cramming stuff in till it touches the ceiling.... I would pay someone to come over and empty it for me. Don't like cleaning up after feeding time at the zoo either. I am sure if we got a dog it would halve my cleaning time and require me to not have to crawl around on the floor picking up bits!!

fin7842 · 25/08/2006 23:27

Always hving to eat what they like to save making two different meals

Sorry people, i've just been reading through this thred and i've been laughing so much that i had tears rolling down my face!!!

My partner wanted to know why i was crying, but i was laughing so much i couldn't speak.

I hate trying to get my 3 kids in the car.
They all strap themselves in, but there is always an arguement as to who's sitting where, and why they don't want to sit next to each other!!!!

fussymummy · 25/08/2006 23:37

I hate pairing up socks as well!!!!
