I have a dd and pregnant with dc 2. Dd will be 20 months when dc2 born.

What are the best double prams to buy please ?

----------------------

Hello!

We've noticed that this thread is quite old now, and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing the top-performing pushchairs on the market to find the best double buggy for 2019.

Hope that helps! Flowers

Watching with interest - DD will be 22 months when DC2 arrives and we have no idea what to get. How do people find something big enough to be comfortable for the kids, while small enough to fit in the house and the car??

bluehearted · 26/04/2014 20:27

The mima kobi double is amazing, the carrycot turns into the seat at 6 months which is a big appeal for me. Plus it looks amazing. However, it's really expensive at £1300 but I love it!

We're looking at the oyster max, my friend has one and it's really great, can be a bit heavy but there seems to be a lot of room between the two seats (you can get adapters to make it more roomy). But that's about £550.

I guess it depends on your budget and the style you like. Personally I don't like the side by side ones.

I'm pregnant with ds2, and ds1 will be 18 months when ds2 arrives so we're trying to work out which one to get. I think it will be the oyster max unless we come into some money then it will be the mima!!

YY Dupain- I would be interested too...

... Oh, the mima kobi? No chance! Dh would have a heart attack if we paid so much on a buggy.

Baby Jogger City Select

bluehearted · 26/04/2014 20:53

Keep, my DH would do the same!! But it's so gorgeous and would be worth the money if we could stretch to it (no way unless my parents pay!!)

Ah see we have a silver cross surf for ds1, we've sold that and putting the money towards the new double. the oyster max is lovely!

Good luck shopping Smile

I have exactly 20 months between DD and DS and got the Bugaboo Donkey.

Very pleased with it and I think there's quite a number of second hand ones kicking about.

Redmasseyinmydrive · 26/04/2014 20:56

Baby jogger... I went through 4 double pushchairs before I loved this one.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 26/04/2014 21:01

Th city jogger looks amazing!

The mountain buggy duet was amazing. I used it for a year. I could get through every doorway, onto every bus etc.
It has a large basket, pretty good hoods, can accommodate a maxi cosi car seat.
I had a carry cot for ds2 so I could have eye contact/have him facing me for first 6 months.
It's only downside was the weight when you lift it into the car boot, but it handled like a dream so as someone who walks (round town) a lot, it was fab.
Although, you may need skinny children too. DS1 eats like a horse but is a skinny whippet so he fitted in the seat until he was 3.2 even though he was walking a fair bit by then.
We lined the air filled tyres with Kevlar tape through a local bike shop and never had a puncture.
It was recommended by people in the know on here and I've seen loads of them around now.
I loved that buggy (sigh) but ds1 is too old now. And too tall.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 26/04/2014 21:08

Oh god bugaboo donkey looks equally fab. Argh!

I'm in the same boat, DS will be 18 months when the bump hatches.

I really want the donkey but have no idea if it'll go in my boot.

Can anyone recommend a decent side by side which will fit in a corsa and ideally has parent and world facing?

Would prefer to be able to use the maxi cosi too but it's not the end of the world if I can't.

mumofboyo · 26/04/2014 21:30

We had a Safety 1st double buggy from Asda. It cost around £120. In the end we only used it for around 8 months as ds preferred walking after 2yrs old and it was much easier for me to have him walking, strapped to the stroller with the reigns, and dd in the stroller.

beanypip1 · 26/04/2014 22:00

we have the oyster max for our 2 dds. I chose that one as the baby goes underneath not the toddler. its only heavy when u have a 2 year old in it. can be used as a single too. as far as fitting in the boot goes it fills my qashqai with the base seat and carry cot. we paid 535 for the pushchair carrycot and adaptors. it does need 4 lots like if u want to use car seat too and only fits the maxi cosi pebble underneath not the cabriofix.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 27/04/2014 18:21

Thanks all. I went to veiw. Bugaboo donkey today. Its a grand! But it does convert to a single buggy too which means we would get our money's worth. Old it faces forwards and to me. Ahhh i want it!

I went for the donkey.. I don't like the ones where one child is on the floor / can't see.. I had a p&t with dc 1 and 2 and despised it. DS screamed blue murder from about 3 months as he couldn't see anything but the underneath of a seat but wasn't old enough to go into upright one. Then you end up with no basket when he eventually was big enough and hanging the changing bag from the handle results in it whacking the lower child in the head!

I got my donkey for £750 from eBay.. Inc loads of accessories etc and hopefully will sell it on for similar.. They wear really well and as with most doubles (unless twins!) probably won't be used for long.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 27/04/2014 19:59

Thanks yorubu - may I ask why you are aekling it? As it converts into a single pram doesnt it? This is one of the reasons I wish to buy it..

I've been watching this thread with interest! I'm pregnant with dc4 and dc3 will 13 months when the new baby comes.

I have the bugaboo chameleon (single) it's been good and has done two of the children but as soon as they've been big enough I've ended up using my maclaren techno single.
Ime the best bits about the bugaboo are being able to clip the car seat on the top and having them facing you when they're little but it's a bit of a pain getting it in an out of the car and I'd imagine having to clip two seats on a bit of a faff. Everyone I have spoke to raves about the baby city jogger and the reviews are brilliant. I just wish wish you could clip a car seat on the top it would be my almost ideal buggy then!

I've decided to get a donkey from eBay then once the youngest is about 18months sell it and get a baby city jogger I think, though I change my mind every couple of days!! :)

Munxx · 27/04/2014 20:52

I have 20mo between my two and I have the out and about nipper 360 double and I LOVE it.

Still going strong and using it every day! They are 3 and 19mo now.

Sleepingisgivingin · 27/04/2014 21:02

There's 17months between my littlest two. I have a Babyjogger City mini double and it's the best buggy ever! Easy to put up/down, goes through my front door and every shop door I've attempted, fits in my boot, enormous sunshades, and when they got a bit bigger they'd sit and hold hands.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 27/04/2014 21:17

I pushed the citi jogger around mothercare and loved it. It is so lightweight!

I think it is goin to be a toss up between the two. I just feel as I need one suitable for a newborn, the bugaboo is more suited?

Has anyone used the city jogger for a newborn?

OP posts:
Munxx · 27/04/2014 21:33

My pal had the city jogger, you can get a carrycot for it and you can also clip the car seat onto it.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 27/04/2014 21:37

I have used (and continue to use) the Baby Jogger City Select for my twins since they were newborns. I have a 17 month age gap, so I sometimes also swapped it all about so I had 1 baby and 1 toddler in it. It's flexibility is what's made it invaluable for me. Plus it's easy for me to push (I can push 2 x 3.5 and 1 x 5 year old on it, using a buggy board).

Pregnantagain7 · 27/04/2014 21:39

This is totally my problem too. I think the bugaboo is more suited to a newborn the car seat thing I mentioned before is one reason and also my Ds is nearly 8 months and I prefer to have him facing me which you can do with the bugaboo. I have decided I def don't want the jogger for the first year I have school and nursery runs to do which are too far to walk to. I don't want to have to keep transferring the newborn from car seat to carrycot each time I get out of the car. I suppose it depends on your life though if you don't use a car a lot and do more walking maybe the jogger would be ok. It all very confusing! :)
