Tips for colic relief in a newborn?

My first daughter is a little over 2 weeks old and suffers horribly with colic. I'm exhausted. DH is back at work (has unfortunately had to go on a trip across the country) and I've not slept more than 2 hours at a time in a week or so.

I'm willing to try anything right now...what worked for you? and when does this bit stop?

Joll can you tell us a bit more about what is happening? How often is she feeding. What happens if you offer more milk etc.

Have a look on youtube at the "tiger in the tree hold". It can help with wind.

She feeds regularly, 3 hourly is usual. She's FF and takes around 3.5-4oz per feed. She's at her absolute worst in the evenings, seems to be in excruciating pain, pumping her legs and bringing them in to her chest. I'm still seeing lots of wet and dirty nappies.

Sorry, replying on the phone so always miss bits! If I offer more milk she suckles but just spits it down herself. When I try a dummy to satisfy the urge to suckle, she'll take it around 50% of the time but spits it out within a few minutes and carries on screaming Confused

Sounds like it could just be normal baby behaviour, especially the fraught evenings. There are some things you can do though Smile

Has she been checked for tongue tie? Have you tried giving her a bath? My dd would trump quite a bit in her tummy tub Grin. Will she settle if you take her for a walk or a drive? Is she getting enough naps in the day?

Askdrsears has some good information on colic here.
