have been posting about this under 'sleep training...' but wanted to give proper context (thanks papillon).
ds has been in own roomfor nearly 6 m but we had been staying in his room til he fell asleep at bedtime - which was ok but recently he began to wake during the night and we had to do the same thing and this was causing problems with 4mo dd to cope with as well. So we started to leave him after stories etc. to go to sleep alone in his room last week and we return him to his bed and leave his room repeatedly until he gives up and goes to sleep. despite much tears he is clearly outraged rather than distraught which is hard but not impossible to cope with. last night was a breakthrough as although he woke twice during the night we merely returned to his bed once and he went back to sleep straightaway! just need to crack bedtime...
so the moral of the story is be strong and persevere if you are trying to set a new routine - i am hoping that tonight will be even better but am going to be prepared for battle!
