2 year old meal times

My 2 year old son has got into a habit of throwing his food across the floor at meal times, if he does eat it he will take a mouthful before it's across the floor. I've tried letting him sit on the floor to eat but even them it spills out everywhere. I've never had much of a problem but lately he just seems to keep doing it. I don't remember any of my other children acting like this when they were his age.

I'm glad it's not just me!! DS is two next week and does a whole load of flinging. I just take the food off him and ignore him. It tends to be when he's not actually hungry or has had enough. It made me cry yesterday though, so totally feel your pain!

Ds1 did it when he was younger. If he threw it, he didn't get it back. He didn't starve and learnt quickly it wasn't going to work.

maybe give it to him on the floor on top of a shower curtain?

I've tried cutting his daily nap plus eating different things during the day, he tends to do it the minute I it down to eat my dinner, it's like I can't eat when he's around or I have to sit right beside him. I've lowered his high chair so he can sit beside me and occasionally it will work but I have also removed his food if he doesn't eat it and then he moans and eats a bite then removed it lol. I have noticed he will eat chips or turkey dinosaurs with tomatoe or mayonise sauce.
