8 yr old word for testicles?

This may be really stupid but...

I've always taught DD that boys have a penis and we sometimes call it a willy, girls have a vagina and we sometimes call it a tiddy, breasts we call boobs etc. We're getting deeper into it at the moment because I'm pg and she wants to know more about how it happens and bodies etc and I'm happy to tell her but just been reading through a book on the subject I've got her for us to go through together and it goes into testicles and how they make sperm etc.

So long story short - is is OK for an 8 yr old girl to say balls, or nuts? I can't work out if it's vulgar or actually a very accurate and normal word for them. When I was young they were goolies which I think is fine but is it a bit silly or unnecessary? What the concensus here, what do your kids call them??

TIA!

Balls sounds OK to me, sort of the equivalent to boobs?

nooka · 22/04/2014 04:45

Balls is no more vulgar than boobs or willies IMO and the most used slang for testicles. I don't think goolies is much used any more, I've not heard that for a long time.

AllThatGlistens · 22/04/2014 05:05

Balls sounds vulgar, sorry.

I don't see why you wouldn't just call them testicles? Mine do, and the elder ones are 10 and 7 Confused

Ive always called them testicles

Nowitscleanugobshite · 22/04/2014 05:48

Testicles. Or peanuts!!!

WeAllHaveWings · 22/04/2014 06:19

We use nuts, conkers, or Crown Jewels mostly. Balls occasionally as it feels like an older word to me.

myitchybeaver · 22/04/2014 06:25

Scrotum is a pretty safe word. Nuts sounds rude but balls is similar to willy and not too bad. Testicles makes me snigger and I'm a 42 year old senior HCP Grin

Shoegal0305 · 22/04/2014 06:52

My son calls them his 'nads'...... He's 11.

Flossiechops · 22/04/2014 07:06

Mine ds 9 also calls them testicles, Crown Jewels or nuts. I hate the term 'balls' on a par with 'fanny' in my house.

Foosyerdoos · 22/04/2014 07:17

I think 'goolies' would be the 'boobs' equivalent to testicles.

AuditAngel · 22/04/2014 07:19

My 9yo DS and his friends favour peanuts.

Spottybra · 22/04/2014 07:22

Willy and nuts here. Testicles was a bit tricky for a 2 year old with a speech problem (now 4yrs and fine). Balls was misunderstood and used to refer to them as his footballs which made me giggle.

nowahousewife · 22/04/2014 07:27

Testicles here although teenage DS and DH like to call them nuts just to wind me up.

Morgause · 22/04/2014 07:28

Testicles here, although DS1 got a bit confused (aged 5) and referred to the vestibules.

Morgause · 22/04/2014 07:29

Which, obviously, is what the entire family call them now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 22/04/2014 07:30

Balls here.

youmakemydreams · 22/04/2014 07:31

We just call them testicles. Balls us a grown up slang for them I think.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 22/04/2014 07:39

testicles or scrotum fine, balls is a bit grown up tbh.

A family.members son calls his his Chicken Nuggets.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 22/04/2014 07:47

DS age 8 calls them his peanuts ( more often now shortened to nuts) I think he picked that up at school when he was in reception year.

MrsDavidBowie · 22/04/2014 07:50

Nads.
Never heard tiddy before.

supportworker · 22/04/2014 07:52

balls, testicles are the bit inside the balls so I don't know that it is an appropriate term for the whole lot.

Endymion · 22/04/2014 07:56

Mine call them testicles. Dcs are dd 10, ds1 8 and ds2 4.

I don't know why you wouldn't talk about testicles?

They know that the testicles are in a bag called the scrotum.

Dd has a vulva and vagina. For some reason she called it a Gina when she was little (guess it sounds similar) and on occasion she will refer to her vagina.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 22/04/2014 07:58

We do talk about testicles, but I wanted him to know other terms as he will hear them in the playground.

Morgause · 22/04/2014 08:03

I saw here on mumsnet the perfect pseudonym for the whole package.
