How to do FORCIBLY MAKE yourself get on with an essay when you just don't seem to be able to...?

My procrastination time is all but over.. I have to do it now.. I need to preferably post it tomorrow.. (OU).. and yet here I am.. It's not the most unapproachable essay I've written.. but I am have some kind of block.. I am wasting time.. I just don't seem to want to do it.. HELP!!!

Hi SleepyJess - same problem here. Have an ECA due on 8th September and TMA due on 1st September - and I'm doing this instead!!! Once I've finished this I will make a start, but it seems you've just about run out of time. Turn off the computer, pick up your books, let the kids watch TV and make a start on your assignment (and ask your tutor if you can have an extension). Good luck.

Timetable your afternoon and stick to it. Write only in 20 minute bursts unless its going really well. After 20 minutes, go to the loo, walk to the kitchen and get some water, drink it and grab a breath of air, the brain needs fresh air to work at its best.

Schedule in 15 minutes of MN every hour as a reward (and stick to it). Imagine what you will treat yourself to if you stick to the plan and get it done. Imagine how you will feel if you don't.

Oh God I wish I could answer that question. About oh, August 2005 I went to Russia, just an essay in Russia to research and write by Oct 2006, figured I could do it while there and get real Russians to check it for me. Like Hell. Russian essay still not done in Feb I went to Spain, well I could write the Russian essay there and research the Spanish one couldn't I? Like Hell. Getting close to September and I still have a Russian essay and a Spanish essay to do.........

Having said that, I am unworthy of any of the replies to my 'question' seeing as it did not make sense in the first place and you should have all said to me "What business have you even TRYING to write essays, much less study for a degree when you put total bollocks in thread titles...?"

It's too long tho.. 2,600 odd words when it's not supposed to exceed 2,500 but I shall of course lie as Ellbell told me to when I was a virgin student. She said they never count unless it blatantly obviously that you are hundreds over.. and I've never been caught out yet..

You put me to shame. Oh well, today I have many many trains to sit on and read through huge unesco files in the name of research. I downloaded temptation blocker and by the end of the weekend I will have a shiny essay. At least I will have one in English ready to put into Russian!
