Swaddlebee leaks, anyone else found this?

I finally received my order of swaddlebees, put them on straight away only to find one hour later they were soaked through; like as if someone had thrown a glass of water over dd2 . Has anyone found this?

Do they not need washing first to increase absorbancy?

Which ones do you have, the pockets or the velour/hemp? I don't have the pocket ones but have a velour one (which needs a separate wrap) and needed to wash it 3 times before first using. It does get very wet and I find that it can't really go as long as a tots can for example, but it is a nice nappy and ds2 likes it, I think because it is less bulky through the crotch on him (he always complains if I use a tots!!). I have just ordered the velour pocket one from Babykind (again, this needs a wrap) as I think just being able to increase the absorbancy through the front might solve my only problem with these nappies.

Like Bagpuss 30, I've got one of the velour/hemp ones for my dd. Read somewhere that you have to pre-wash them about 5 times before they reach full absorbency. I don't find them anywhere near as absorbent as my Tots though.

Mind you they are much less bulky.

Thanks for the advice guys. Like the saddo that I am I was too excited over getting a new nappy that I didn't pre-wash! How sad is that?! It is a pocket so I shall use some of my old inserts until I wash my hemp a few times before I use it again. The nappies don't come with instructions so how are you supposed to know that they need to be washed a million times before using them?!!! Previous to this I have been using Bambino Mio and prefolds but DD2 has rather chubby legs (just like her mother) and the Mio wraps mark her. And in my haste last night I posted this twice so there are two threads! I just don't think it was my day yesterday.

I haven't used swaddlebees yet, but hemp does need a LOT of pre-washing.
I hated my wonderoo for ages, but it's gradually becoming more and more absorbant
