Are baby gap jeans always this tiny?

When DD was born we were given vouchers for baby gap and I just got round to spending them over the weekend, getting some age 3-6months and some 6-12 months. The 3-6 months stuff fits fine, and the 6-12months tops are far too big (she's 3 months) but I got some jeans for 6-12 and they for her now! I've checked all the labels and they're all the right size so it's not like I lifted the wrong size or they were on the wrong hanger. So have I got a dud pair or are baby gap bottoms just tiny? (I measured them against some next jeans I have for 6-9 months and they're a fraction of the size)

We bought DD some 6-12 month jeans and they are tiny! Was really upset as bought them to last all summer and they are already too small.

They are tiny! I have small girls who have both outgrown their 12-18 months jeans (they have only just turned 18 months). Their Next jeans in the same size still fit.

Everything in Gap is tiny. When DD was 16 months a I bought a snowsuit in 18-24 months and could barely get her in it. She's fairly averagely sized - a little taller than average but she wasn't the size of a two year old!

My dd is in 3-6 month jeans and she is 9 months. Most of her clothes are now 6-9 months so I guess these ones are a bit on the big side. When she was tiny, she had 2 pairs of 0-3 month jeans, one pair was about right and the other pair huge. So I guess it just depends on the style.

TinyTear · 14/04/2014 13:51

They are true to size for me... But then again I have a 9th centile DD and their stuff fits well.

ChristopherRobin · 14/04/2014 13:53

Yes they are all too small. My dd has just turned one and she has already outgrown her 12-18 month jeans and leggings, but I bought them when she was 9 months so she's had a bit of use out of them. Just buy everything a size bigger.

MummyPig24 · 15/04/2014 06:04

GAP trousers have never fit my two. We've had some as hand me downs and they just never fit round their tummies. They are perfectly normal sized children, not overweight, but it's always been a squeeze. Never had this issue with other brands.

DirtyDancing · 15/04/2014 06:42

Yes, love them for this very reason! 9th percentile baby here too and GAP v essential

Bumpsadaisie · 15/04/2014 06:56

Gap bottoms and pyjamas are notoriously tiny. My DS is on the 90th percentile, he's 2.5 but needs 4yr old clothes in GAP. For tops he needs one size bigger.

AntoinetteCosway · 15/04/2014 07:31

DD is 2.5 and has a play suit that's age 4 from GAP! She's 50th centile (or was last time I checked).

womblingalong · 15/04/2014 07:34

Yes they are, perfect for very slim children, like mine! Buy a size or two up for bottoms for normal sized kids. They were my lifesaver for my slim hipped children.

snoggle · 15/04/2014 07:36

Yes, they are brilliant because they stay up on ds1. Do nothing for ds2 though who is chunkier

Gap sells the worst kids jeans ever. Useless. Hate them with a passion.

HeyBungalowBill · 15/04/2014 10:54

I worked at gap and often went round the baby section advising people to buy a size bigger as the sizes come up small for most items!
Bottoms and jackets especially!

catkind · 15/04/2014 11:06

Yup, always small. Made the mistake of getting some 3 yr old PJs for my average sized 3 yr old - they fitted his 1 yr old sister perfectly!

unintentionalthreadkiller · 16/04/2014 12:57

They're perfect for my two skinnies, it's the only shop that they actually wear age appropriate clothes from!

mejon · 16/04/2014 15:30

I think it's very hit and miss. DD2 has just turned 3 but is very small for her age. I got her a cardigan in 3T from a Gap outlet store - it barely fits , yet the cord jeggings I got in the same size have a ridiculously gappy waist with no way of adjusting them so I've had to sew some tucks in the waistband. DD1 is 7 and is still wearing her age 4 and 5 Gap long john pyjamas.

WrongendoftheSTIX · 18/04/2014 22:03

I shop there for my dd especially for this reason! She is 50th centile and they fit her perfectly.

poorbuthappy · 18/04/2014 22:09

Still brilliant for my teeny twins.
They have 6-12 months shorts from GAP which still fit them. Obv not right!
They are 5 and are wearing age 3 jeans there.
Complete saviour for teeny kids. Grin
