Feeling so loved up with my 7 week old! (DS1) Just got to get this off my chest

I love...

His milky breath. Especially when he yawns

When he drinks too fast and coughs and his little face shape when he coughs and he's so helpless and sweet

When he sneezes

When he's asleep but slightly hungry and he makes little sucky movements with his mouth

When he's asleep but very hungry and wakes himself up by frantically trying to suck his fist and moving around looking for the nipple. All desperate as if he's starving hungry.

His little hands flinging out and all his fingers spread out if you make him jump (just about losing this now- he's grown out of it)

What he looks like when he sleeps on his side. Like a sausage dog. Or a tiny adult.

Kissing his chubby cheeks. Or his mouth. Or the back of his neck

His soft soft hair. Like a plumb.

I love knowing that everything that has ever entered his body has come from me. All nutrients and everything that has made him grow and be healthy.

How his eyes roll back in his head when he's all full with milk.

That little sigh he does. (Two quick breaths in, one long breath out) He sounds so contented. Especially when he does it after a big long feed and does the sigh as he pulls off the nipple and flops into sleep.

How when he's hungry and I put my boob to the side of his face and he'll snap his head round to reach it. Very quickly as if Iv been keeping this from him for ages. It's such a boy movemement. All greedy and masculine.

When his face suddenly gets into bright sunlight and his whole body stiffens and he arches backwards with his eyes closed.

Ahhh all so adorable!!

Just had to share that!!!!
Anyone know what I mean?

Ahh, that was lovely to read.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean, I still feel like this (but about different things now) about DS1 and DS2.

But there's something very special about the newborn fug of love.

Enjoy your lovely little bundle Smile

sillymillyb · 13/04/2014 17:09

Oh! You made me all teary!!

Ds has just turned 2 and it made me reminisce about when he was a baby. I was just thinking about how I loved his little milk drunk face, when he would come off the boob with his mouth still open and so so content.....

He has just had a tantrum because I wouldn't let him lick my toes, so I can verify it changes fast mind Grin

Awh....I'm due in 9 weeks and I can't wait for this bit. ...Once the bleeding nipples and relentless feeding subsides a bit :)

meerschweinchen · 13/04/2014 19:20

Aww such a beautiful post! I'm feeding my 7 month old, and feeling sad that time is going so fast. You've made me remember all the things I loved about having a newborn.

Shroomboom · 13/04/2014 20:15

What a lovely post! I have a huge Smile on my face now - dd is 11 weeks and I love her so much it hurts. Every single thing you mentioned resonated with me, but I must add kissing her tiny feet to your list. She smells so delicious I could breathe her in forever… DS is 7 and I still love how he smells Grin

Eminybob · 13/04/2014 20:25

Awwww that has made me all the more impatient to meet my little pfb boy. Only 15 weeks to go!

Lovely op Smile

That's so sweet. I'm glad you're enjoying your baby so much. This is what memories are made of, not the big things but these moments. I'm gazing at my big sleeping lummox of a 14 month old, remembering when she was new and tiny. Smile

Teabird · 13/04/2014 22:01

Thats so lovely, make sure you keep a record of this to remind yourself as he grows older. It will be a wonderful reminder of those early weeks. It is the sort of thing I should read tonight after the 8th time of lying my daughter back down in her cot, she has recently learnt to stand and is taking every opportunity to demonstrate her skills!!!

mrsmugoo · 15/04/2014 14:29

Oh that made me cry! My PFB 5 week old is snuffling in his sleep in front of me and everything you've said could have been written by me. Lovely!

Littlebean13 · 16/04/2014 10:40

This thread really made me smile. I also have a 7 week old ds & I could have written this post of all the lovely things he does. I especially love his milky breath it's so cute!

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/04/2014 10:47

That post made me feel very nostalgic! Breastfeeding creates an unforgettable bond.

flipflopsonfifthavenue · 16/04/2014 11:06

I loved DS' milk breath too! I remember putting him onto my shoulder after a feed and feeling a little puff of sweet warm milky-ness on my cheek.

He's 21mo now and only really smells sweet immediately after a bath :/

I'm 10wks pg and you've reminded me of all the sweet newborn things. I've got an email thread that I would add to and re-send myself with each thing I wanted to remember when he was really little - I only did it until he was about 10mo but re-reading it, there are still so many things I'd already forgotten about.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 16/04/2014 11:24

Feeding my 8 day old son now and feeling just the same. The scent of his little bald head is so sweet and his skin is so soft and strokable. I would be 39weeks pregnant now if he hadn't made an early appearance and I feel so lucky that he's here to snuggle already. He's my second and has made my family complete so I'm cherishing every cuddle knowing I'll never have a newborn again so I will make the most of this magical time.

(I got three hours of unbroken sleep last night so feeling pretty amazing!)

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/04/2014 12:15

It's so lovely to read about people really enjoying their babies and revelling in these early months with them! There are so many mums posting about having a difficult time - usually for very understandable reasons- that it is wonderful to hear the other side of motherhood too!

QuietNinjaTardis · 16/04/2014 12:21

Dd is nearly 19 weeks. I love it when she falls asleep after feeding and her hands are resting on me. I love it when she's finished feeding and pulls off to look up at me and grin before latching on for a second then repeat. I love it now Shes learnt to roll over and she's so pleased with herself. I love snuggling up with her. I love her fat little hands and her fat little legs. I love her eyes. I love her.
Aren't these little people we make amazing?

luckiestgirlintheworld · 16/04/2014 17:57

Ah guys- lovely to hear your reactions.

Koothrapanties · 18/04/2014 11:21

Dd is 6mo and I still get all teary about how much I love her, and how incredible she is. Just this morning I cried proud tears of joy when she ate an entire naval orange. She only started solids last week and to see her munch away was amazing.

I still sniff her breath and her baby skin. I stare at her beautiful eyelashes and perfect little face. When she laughs at me I melt and seeing her achieve new things every week is the most special thing ever.

So far it has just got better and better. Her personality comes out more and more every day and I love her with a burning ferocity that I had no idea could exist.

I'm so happy for you op, don't ever forget to take note of the little things.

SocialNeedier · 20/04/2014 20:35

Lovely post.

I am so in love with my dd I can't believe it.

YY to everything in the OP.

In fact she's lying asleep on me right now having just fallen off the nipple but she's still doing that sucking thing with her mouth. It's so cute.

I look forward to the mornings when we haven't seen each other in a while and I look over the edge of her cot to see her looking up at me and we smile big, happy-to-see-you smiles at each other. It always makes me well up.
