It's my baby boys 1st birthday in a few weeks and I have no idea what to get him. I would like to get him something fun as in a toy and something special for keep sake.

Can some of you tell me what you have given your children for their first birthday and how you made it special pls? X

Ds will be 1 in June and we plan on getting him some outdoor play equipment. Hopefully it should last a few years and be of use to future siblings.

Yeah that's a good idea sweet, I was thinking maybe a ball pit that can also be a paddling pool.

We had a picnic with lots of friends (sadly no family in the UK) which was lovely. I got DD new clothes, a good hardback copy of a classic book (Peter Rabbit stories) and a ride on wheelybug plus a handful of other smaller toys. Friends and family really spoiled her with lots of new toys and books as well, it took us almost 2 hours to open everything (by which point she had long lost interest).

The other thing we did was put some extra money in her bank account for when she is older. Hopefully she will appreciate that when she needs to pay for uni fees or a house deposit (and it will long outlive any toys, clothes or books we might buy!).

Premium Bonds

He'll get all the 'toys' from Grandparents / Aunts Uncles etc. - get him something he'll appreciate when he's older.

DS is 1 next week, he's getting a bounce and spin zebra. I'm a glutton for punishment.

All friends and family gave DD a copy of their favourite children's book and wrote an inscription for her. We have a shelf full of beautiful books for her to grow into.
