Newbie - Potty Training and Accident Help

My wife and I (yes I'm a man!!) have tried potty training our 2.3yr old DD over the last couple of weeks. We've decided that she's not ready yet and are going to hold off and try and encourage her to tell us properly when she's ready.

We had an accident on Friday (18th) which ran from the upstairs landing through to DD's bedroom. We dettol'd the area immediately, the landing is clear and fine but DD's bedroom stinks of the ammonia still. So much so DD woke up last night and came in to sleep with us!!! We've tried carpet shampooing it but that seemed to make it worse?!?!? Any ideas bar ripping the carpet out and getting new in?

Thanks

Bicarbonate of soda is good for shifting smells. Sprinkle it on, leave it for as long as you can, then hoover it up.

Otherwise you can use white vinegar half and half with water, but that's a bit messier and needs more elbow-grease!

Welcome to MN, by the way

Thanks for the info. Will try it tonight and see what happens... hopefully we won't have the same as last night... She's only 2 but has started to sleep diagonally, now I know something like what my wife felt when she was digging her in her ribs!!!
