Hi im doing an access course with OU before going on to a degree.
OU suggested the access course as ive been out of education for 10 years.
At this stage OU suggests 8-10 hours study a week but everyone has said its more like 2-4 hours which I'd agree with.
Im not sure what they expect per week for a degree.
I use one day where DD is at nursery as study time, orginally I used two evenings but I like my evenings just relaxing.
The only down side is my access course finishes in september and I cant go to in the degree until February.
All courses start in October and February.
There helpline team are really good and will answer any questions

My dd was about 6 when I started and I'm graduating today. It's possible, but hard on your family.

Hi, I'm a single parent, I work p/t and am studying for a degree p/t. It is tough but doable. However I waited until mine started school, I really don't think I could have done it when he was a full on, non sleeping toddler! I really need my evenings for studying. I'd say if your dc's have an early bedtime and sleep through then go for it.
I also have family help, especially around exam time which I think makes a huge difference.
