Daughter going to a party tomorrow. Been asked to take no presents and give a donation to a charity the mother supports. I've done that but do feel sorry for her 4 year old. I bought a small present (ie something for the girls hair and a small box of mini eggs. DH says I shouldn't give her the present as specifically asked to give no presents. WWYD?

Take the stuff with you and ask the parents before letting the birthday girl see them.
The hair clip sounds fine.
Only give the sweets if you hand them to a parent without the birthday girl seeing.

I think the advice given by the above poster is good. Just tell one of the parents that you didn't want to arrive empty handed and pass the gift to them so that they can decide whether to give it to their daughter or not.
