Congested cough - does baby need to see dr?

My son is five months and has a congested cough. It sounds like he has a lot of mucus. Been like this the past four days. He caught the bad cough from grandma. He is drinking fine and seems happy. The only thing that worries me is the sound of the cough. We have humidifier in his room. What else to do? Does he need to see dr?

Always err on the side of caution with babies. Doctors don't mind seeing babies at all, as babies can't tell you what is wrong and sometimes symptoms can be misleading.

I took DS2 to the docs when he was 8 months as he had temp for a few days (no other symptoms, bar a bit of a runny nose) and I had just been stripping him off to keep him cool, with the odd bit of calpol when he seemed distressed (maybe a bit more blase with number 2!).

After a day where had low temps as well as high temps, I took him along and it turned out he had a chest infection and needed a course of antibiotics (he hadn't had any kind of cough at all, and I hadn't heard any raspiness)

It's always worth getting an appt and letting them check his chest to make sure it's not an infection. Fingers crossed it will be a 2 minute check followed by, he's fine, it's just a cough. But never worry about being seen as a pest or a nuisance, always take him if you have any concerns, always.

Problem is I'm in the USA for four months. Seeing the dr is not as easy here as in London for me. But maybe we try to book an appt. I need to find a doc.
