what times do your dc go to bed?

I have 3dc - 6yo dd and 2.5yo dtds. Dtds have just dropped daytime nap so bedtime has moved to in bed and settled by about 7pm rather than 7.30pm. Dd1 goes to bed by 7.45pm.

I googled bedtime and came across an old netmums thread where they all seemed to put toddlers to bed at 8-9pm. I decided to come back here to ask what's normal in your house? Maybe I just have tired children. They get up about 7am which is enough time to have breakfast and get ready for the school run.

9pm! Not on your life. I need my evening! Our DS goes down at 7pm and wakes at 7am.

PrincessScrumpy · 26/03/2014 14:13

Thank you odyssey - me too. I was feeling really selfish

My 8 yr old goes to bed at 7.30 - 8ish. He reads for half an hour or so after I've read him a story.

SoonToBeSix · 26/03/2014 14:16

I think your six your old goes to bed later than average. My 9 year old goes at 7.30, the 3 and 19 month old go at 7pm

MyNameIsKenAdams · 26/03/2014 14:17

2.5 - 7pm. Wakes 7am if at cms, 8am on weekends.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/03/2014 14:19

Toddlers to bed at 9pm here, until they start preschool at which point bedtime becomes 8pm.

It has stayed there, eldest is now in Y1 and youngest in preschool and they both go to bed at 8pm - sometimes 8.30pm - during the week.

cathpip · 26/03/2014 14:19

Both my 5 year old and 3 year old go to bed at 6.45 on a school night and 7.30 on the weekend. They wake at 6:30 regardless of time they went to bed.

DaffodilLily · 26/03/2014 14:39

My ddnearly6 goes to bed at 7pm then reads for 20mins. In bed by 8pm at the weekend.

MrsPear · 26/03/2014 14:57

My one year around 6 30 and the four year old 7 pm.

Felyne · 26/03/2014 15:20

4 year old and 20 month old. Both go at 7.30pm and wake at 6.30am. Toddler has a nap 90 minutes most days.

DS was always a 7pm -7am child.

Until he was about 8 or 9 - and then we went a little later. Still before 9.00pm though.

Now he is 16 - and I have no idea what time he goes to bed Grin. It's always after me.

anklebitersmum · 26/03/2014 15:34

The youngest three biters 4,7 & 8 go to bed at 7.30.
The eldest biter, 14 goes up at 9-9.30 pm.

I am a mean Mummy Grin

2.5yr DS in bed by 7:30. But he still has a 2 hr nap in the afternoon - I need that time more than the extra half hour at night when DH is home to help!
8yr DSD - 8pm on school nights, 8:30pm weekends plus 10mins reading time.

MummyLuce · 26/03/2014 20:32

Toddler aged 21 months - on your average week day evening when we have no plans, anytime between 8 and 9.. She's really cute in the evening, running round naked and giggling so I quite like keeping her up!

Odaat · 26/03/2014 20:33

My dd is 1, she is in bed for 6 everynight. She wakes at 6-630 everyday regardless of her bedtime, infact if she goes to bed later she is generally groggy and then wakes through night. She has never been a huge napper. I have adapted and go to bed earlier myself. I believe in routines, but you cannot really force a sleep time upon them - my dd would be screaming the place down if i started putting her to bed at 9 - and so would i!

Odaat · 26/03/2014 20:36

Everyone is different though, every family is too. Whatever suits you and you kids :)

BadRoly · 26/03/2014 20:37

In our house I aim for the following because I want some time to watch my crap on the telly!
Dc1 (12) - 9pm
Dc2 (10) - 8.30
Dc3 (7) - 7.30
Dc4 (4) - 7
It gets moved about a bit due to club pick ups etc for the smaller 2 but certainly they are in bed by 8 at the latest.

lolalotta · 26/03/2014 21:33

7 month old: 6.00pm
4 year old: 6.30pm Grin

Hulababy · 26/03/2014 21:35

11y - around 9pm for lights out. Weekends/holidays are flexible. She often chooses to head up earlier to read.
