DD's bottom is bleeding every time she poos

Sorry this is not a pleasant subject but dd does massive poos since she has been potty trained and they are making her bottom bleed quite alot every time she poos (it's been getting worse). She eats a balanced diet with fruit and veg and drinks enough. Any ideas what I should do? She already has a skin flap near her bottom hole (for lack of a better description) which the Dr. said was nothing to worry about but comes from too much straining. Should I give her lactulose? I'm worried this is a short term solution though. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

I had exactly the same with my eldest D. Why not try giving her good quality orange juice to drink (ie Tropicana) or even some prunes/apricots? My D had constipation when she was a lot younger - and each time she tried to do a poo it was so big she couldn't pass it so (I hate admitting this!) I had to help her pass it by putting my hand up her backside and easing it out. I think half the problem is that once a child is potty trained they become scared about doing poos - I've just potty trained my youngest (2.7) D and she's only just done a poo this afternoon - her last being on Monday. I'm sure she needed one before now but hung on because she didn't have a nappy on etc.

I wouldn't give her any lactose solutions - just try upping her juice (decent 100% stuff that costs a bomb in the shops) or something different to eat - prunes and apricots are excellent. The bleeding, by the sounds of it, is due to straining. Nothing to worry about but just keep her extra clean down below etc. Bless her. Good luck. x

Thanks Barney2. I'll try the fruit juice tomorrow when I've been shopping!
