Travel sleeping bags.

8 month old DD is in the market for some new sleeping bags.
We're doing a longish evening/night drive in a couple of weeks, so I was wondering whether it was worth getting the sleeping bags with the slots for the car seats.
I figure also that now she's older and pleaseGoddon'tjinxit sleeping reliably we could risk a few late evenings, and it'd be useful to be able to do a quick car-cot transfer.
So my question is, are they worth it? Do they actually enable you to transfer without waking them, and (forgive the stupidity) how do they work?

i have one, its the merino kids one. we bought it because we wanted a merino sleeping bag, but it also happens to have the car seat function you mention. basically there is a hole half way down in the middle on the front and back, so you can feed the bottom strap (the buckle bit) through and up and then you can put the top 2 straps into the buckle.

tbh we never used it in that way a huge amount though because dd would never stay asleep when we got her out of the car. it was only useful for when we were staying somewhere and had to leave really early or when we stayed in a cottage and had a long evening car journey to get there. it just meant minimum disturbance, but certainly didn't mean no disturbance, in the transfer between car to cot. but that's probably just my dd, i can imagine if your child did stay asleep it would be amazing!!

We have a gro bag one and it's a god send for the 0200 starts. Load car, pick DD up out of bed, put in car, do up her seat belt and go.

I have the merino kids ones too, which are wonderful btw, but have also use the grobag harness version too.

If you have a portable type child it can be worth it but tbh only for shorter journeys. Most peoples rooms tend to be around 18 degrees but have their cars 20-21 ish. So if you put your child in a bag for a long journey they are likely to overheat. They're ideal for short trips out in an evening though, rather than have to put them in a bag when you get home.
