'Can I go to starbucks' can I get lunch out' can i buy thiis' can i buy that'

Now I was going to give them extra money each week and they could use it for whatever they wanted HOWEVER dh pointed out that all the kids had money in their accounts that they coudl get at and if they wanted to leave it there we should ask them to earn money....

What do you think?

definitely sounds a good idea - I had to do a few chores in the school hols to get extra money. It will keep them busy, mean you get to do less and they'll learn the importance of earning money (obviously the most important of all these is you having to do less !)

Don't know how old they are but as a kid (12/13 years old) I got regular pocket money and I had certain jobs to do in the house eg washing up,clearing up, setting table etc.

If I wanted more money I could earn it by doing other jobs in the house that weren't my normal ones. My favourite was vacuuming the stairs as my mum hated doing it but I didn't mind too much as it was quite quick to do so mum was always willing to give me a bit of extra cash for doing it.
