Silly i know but feeling sad that ds prefers dad to mum!!!

my 16mths adores his daddy which is lovely but i feel left out! i look after him most of the time but when daddy is around he seems happier and wants him all the time and pushes me away! i know this is normal and i should get a grip but feeling a bit sad and wish he was like that with me!

It's a phase and there will come a time when he prefers you and you wish you could get a little break sometimes!

Don't worry milky, I think these preferences come and go in phases. My dd was the same about that age but now I am definitely flavour of the month. My dd is like a limpet sometimes always demanding mummy cuddles or "no! Mummy do it" whenever my poor dh tries to help her. I'm sure Daddy will be the best again before long!

Don't worry it is probably just a phase. My DD was the same at that age, she only wanted me and didn't want to go to daddy, which made him very sad.

It won't last

Both of our DC, now 4 and 6, are like that and have pretty much always been 'daddy's' kids. I work from home and am the main carer and DH works long days away from the home.
It bugs me how the kids never seem as happy to see me as they do their dad, but over time I've come to believe it's because I am dependably always there. They don't feel they need to make a big deal over me because whatever things we've been through, I am always around, whereas their dad doesn't go through as much with them as I do, so they feel a stronger need to impress, be good and lovely etc.
Maybe it's the same with your DS.
I've seen my kids learning journeys and homework and so I take comfort in the fact that when they're asked things like "what makes you happy?", the vast majority of the time, their answers involve mummy things.
I know how you feel, unappreciated and not as cared for as your DS's dad is, but trust me, however little it's shown, your DS has deep rooted love for you and you are a very important aspect of his life x

I always said that my two didn't even notice that I existed until they were 2 and a half! They started nursery at 2.5 and both of them within a week of nursery told me that they loved me. . Up until that point they took me for granted and I'm not entirely sure that they considered me as a separate person.
