Rationing TV Watching Time

My dd is just 11 and seems to have taken root in front of the TV this hols. She gets very upset if I try to limit and remove controls etc. She did not watch nearly as much when she was younger and it was a lot easier to regulate. Some of me says she is vegging out after a busy term and uses TV as background while she plays etc. It is easier to limit during the term, but when I have other things to do and I'm not taking her out etc she can't seem to think of anything else !! We have just had a very active holiday with relatives, so I know she's tired at the mo. It was not done to watch TV when I was young - but then it wasn't there most of the time and their world is very different.

Any views and suggestions please ?
