Im thinking of signing up for the access to nursing course in my local college (coleg gwent to anyone who may know it) and complete it through night school.
My main question is do you have to complete a placement in the course? (got two young kids, childcare probs etc). How difficult is the course and how much time outside college did you have to put it (apart from assignments etc), as I am already completing a Combined Studies (suitable for some first year degree courses) in my local area, and also study from home in alternative therapies etc but they obviously don't have time limits etc.
I've also got two kids, and I am a doula, and at some point will be working as this.

Am i mad in trying to complete the nursing course as well.

I also did access over 2 years which meant that I was only in college for 2 and a half days a week, and their were no placments.

I had a six week old and a 22 month old when I started and also worked nights. Its difficult but it is managable. Like Sally says, the benifits will far out way the struggle.
