only I lost it. I'm not convinced about the lanolin thing still, but want to look again and maybe will make one from synthetic yarn (which would presumably have the same effect as they repel water?)

actually, that is a crocheting pattern but hopefully tickle turdle will help you to search for the original thread.

I'm not a nappy wraps person, but I do know knitting - actual wool is much nicer than synthetics. Merino is very gentle on the skin. And wool deals better with moisture than any other material - I get excema if I leave my feet sweaty, but merino wool socks solve everything.

Also, wool has "give", so makes for a stretchier final product. Which is probably good, with babies growing all the time.

If you want or need help adapting a pattern to a different fibre or wool weight choice, I'm glad to help.

Alright I know I'm sleep deprived but I just read this as
Did anyone save the link to those nappy knitting parents.

The thing is I actually believed there might be a website about parents who knit their own nappies.

aitch71ababe · 13/08/2006 11:16

with hand-woven lentils, Dontlookatmeimshy..?

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/08/2006 13:18

Well 'lentil-weaving' did pop into my mind too.

But then I had a look at the sites and think the wraps are quite sweet and wish I had seen the sling before I had ds.

Not sure which original thread you were looking for, but there's one with links that I've bookmarked that's entitiled "Re-usuable nappies! Minefield! Help!". It started on 2nd July and finished on 28th. SOrry I can't do links...

Hope that helps.

Hi you could try this. It has patterns to sew your own nappies.(lentils not compulsory) as well as knitting patterns for wool wraps.
