rash around two year olds anus

My 2yo boy has developed a cluster of red sores around his anus, the skin between his scrotum and anus is also bright red. Looks really sore but isn't bothering him too much. I let him sleep nappy-free last night and have no nappy on today, as well as applying sudocream but it's still just as bad. Any ideas?

Hey, my son got sore a few weeks ago, no idea why, put bepanthen nappy ointment on before bed and was gone by the morning.

If it's a cluster of red spots or general redness with spots around the outside, it's likely to be fungal. I'd try some canestan. Don't forget to keep using it for a week after it looks better.

It is thrush. Canesten will likely see it off. If not, see your GP
