Got great advice on controlled crying from you all and know feel confident to trust my instincts not listen to mother and not do it with my little one.

On a separate issue, when did you all start taking your little ones to the swimming pool?

Although they say you can take them before jabs, we waited until afterwards just in case.

I took mine after his first injections too - though the health visitor said that I could take him before. She said (I don't know if this is true) that the old advice on waiting until your baby had had all their injections was because the old polio vaccine was live and so could be present in the water from another baby. But now the vaccine doesn't contain "live" polio, so it's fine.
I wouldn't say he enjoyed the first couple of times, but he didn't cry and was calm/interested (and slept SO well afterwards!). From about the 3rd time he actively enjoyed it.
I was lucky as my local pool had a special learning pool, whch was wonderfully warm and shallow - and had great baby change facilities too, which made it all very easy and good fun.

Happy swimming!

I'm sure nibbs is right about why they used to say to wait until after all threed lots of jabs. i reckon finding a pool with good facilities and a warm shallow end is most important.

babies under 12lbs or 3 months should not go swimming in pools less than 32 degrees
