It takes a parent to really appreciate the value of a site like mumsnet.....

that's it really.

it's the support you get here, when in real life your family are living far away, your parents are elderly and none of your pals have had kids yet.

people don't get that when they don't have kids of their own.

ssd, I quite agree. Mumsnet has been a complete lifeline for me. My sibs all have children but not so many of my friends, and to find a place where people have seen it, done it, and can infinitely reassure you that you are not alone on this adventure called parenthood is incredibly valuable.

Long live Mumsnet, and all who sail in her.

it takes a parent to realise what parenting is all about.

Of course, you can adore children, care for them lovingly but that emotional tie is not there - it's something you have to experience, it changes your whole vista on life

saved me loads! remember searching through the archives for help at 3am and getting it. lurked for ages when preggie but didn't have the courage to post. next pregnancy will definitely join an antenatal club. great source of support!

Absolutly! i have freinds who just dont get why Mn is so important to me. thats becasue they dont yet have children, have supportive partners, lots of RL freinds, close family etc.

I havent been here long but the support i have received has been imeasurable.

Someone without children could not possibly imagine how truely alone you feel at times, even when you have lots of people around you.

Or a pregnant lady (living abroad). This site has been so important to me in so many ways. From knowing what is is worth buying for the new baby, to learning about natural births, raspberry leaf tea, etc etc. And just knowing about other women`s experiences has meant that I have had the guts to stand up for what I want regarding my pregnancy and delivery. Without a resource like this, I would have just nodded and accepted everything, not having the knowledge to know better. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!

agree with all the comments. It's just amazing having access to this massive fund of knowledge, experience, support and fun.

What about those waiting on adoptions? Very valuable for them too (thinking of you SJ)!

I think mumsnet is great too, it got me through a very difficult time with lots of encouragement and support, I'm on everyday, even if I don't always post, reading other peoples experiences helps you make informed decisions in your own life, but its not just that, the humour on this forum has me in stitches quite often, I'm addicted, not sure where I would go for my daily fix if it wasn't here.
