8m old refusing food

My 8m old DD was EBF and we're doing BLW.

Up until this week I really felt we were making progress but the last few days she has barely nibbled and when she does eat she usually shouts at the same time.

She wants to drink water and is still feeding lots, could it be teeth or something else? She has no teeth yet and I think shes teething, although you never know, do you?

My son is 8 months (and doing BLW) and he has went off his food for a few days with teethign (no other signs of it, other than loss of hunger and sleep) so it coudl well be teething as I've found that it's when the teeth are moving under the gums (and you can't see them) that it's caused DS2 the most discomfort. If she's okay in herself I wouldn't worry about it, I think at this age you're looking at them just trying/tasting stuff and if they have a few days without eating much (and they're otherwise okay) just ride it out.

From memory, I'm sure DS1 would sporadically go off food every now and then until he was 2.5 yrs, and then he'd start eating again (and make up for what he missed)

Could definitely be teeth, or bloodymindedness. You can give a dose of nurofen and try a few minutes afterwards. Its ok that she just drinks milk for a bit though.

As pp said, it could well be bloody mindedness. My 10mo dd sometimes eats for Britain, and sometimes just chucks everything on the floor while shouting at me. I stutter between panicking that she's over-eating and panicking that she's starving.

I suspect it's partly that she's learned that she doesn't have to eat the food put in front of her, and that she can choose to play with it instead. It was so much easier when she went along with things unquestioningly!

Another vote for teething. All dd will eat whilst teething are those snacks the look like massive wotsits but aren't

Maybe she's not quite ready for proper food yet? I know lots of them love it by that age, but my DD wasn't interested until around 9 months. I offered her food twice a day every day and worried about it a lot - now I wish I'd chilled out!

The thing is she normally loves her food and eats everything so it's out of character.

She'll now eat bread crusts, yoghurt and cold fruit/veg so I think it's teething!
