Is this usual for a 2 year check?

I have received a letter asking me to book an appointment for dc3s 2 year check. The letter says it will last an hour and it will take place in a group. Is this usual, I wouldn't mind making an individual appointment but I don't really fancy going along to a group thing. I have no concerns at all about dc3s progress, but if I did have I wouldn't want to discuss them in a group anyway.

Has anyone else been to a check in a group setting, and what was it like? I am going to make the appointment, but it does seem an odd way of going about it to me.

Not done it but have heard its done quite often. Most likely a saving money thing partly. My dd never had a 2 year check. Her key worker at preschool did a sort of one but she was about 3 by then! I had no concerns so didn't chase it up.

DS1's 2-3 yr check was a one to one appointment with the HV at our house. But I have seen the group appointments mentioned in other threads. I suppose it must depend on where you live.

I wouldn't have wanted to discuss any concerns about DS1's progress in a group setting either btw.

We had the 10 month check in a group. She went through some points she had to make and if anyone looked a bit confused/concerned she spoke to us individually at the end. There was plently of space to be private if necessary.
It was quite nice seeing the other children there together actually

Not a 2 year check, but they moved to group booking appointments for pregnancy when i was pregnant with DS2. They seemed suprised I a) couldn't make the time once a month when the sessions happened (ie I got offered one appointment - I had a customer visit I really couldn't shift at that notice), and b) didn't want to be so early in pregnancy in a group situation - ie I was offered one at 6 weeks, having previously loosta baby at that point.....

Madness imo, if they want to be able to discuss anything personal.
